Clos de La Perriere Fixin Rouge 1er Cru Monopole 2019
Clos de La Perriere Fixin Rouge 1er Cru Monopole 2019
Previously regarded amongst the most esteemed vineyards of Burgundy, Clos de la Perriere is a 1er Cru vineyard in Fixin, often dismissed as a rustic counterpart to Gevrey-Chambertin. It's now a monopole (a rarity in Burgundy) owned by the Joliet family for six generations. Benigne Joliet currently runs the estate and has made improvements since he took over: organic farming, delayed pruning to combat frosts, and the intention to stop tilling.
He makes one red and one white from this fabled land. The red is a combination of four distinct parcels and aged in French oak for up to 2 years. It's drinking so easily in its youth: radiating with heady ripe plum, blackberry, with intermingling spice, with a sultry body that really envelops the palate with lush texture.
